Modern Plus Sign Quilts blog hop!

Modern Plus Sign Quilts Cover250I’m thrilled to be participating in the blog hop for Modern Plus Sign Quilts by Paige Alexander (@quiltedblooms) and Cheryl Brickey (@meadowmistdesigns)!  The graphic plus sign is such a great design to build a quilt around.  Paige and Cheryl have come up with 16 different plus sign designs.  There is a size and technique for everyone in this book!  Quilts come in small and large and feature piecing, applique and paper piecing – all with complete instructions.

Intertwined

Choosing which quilt to make from the book was hard – there are so many good ones!  I finally decided on Intertwined because I always enjoy quilts where the blocks nest together.  Are you surprised that this quilt isn’t black and white?  I thought about it!  But two color quilts don’t work well with blocks that nest (not enough contrast).  So I used one of my other favorite color schemes – blue, green and orange.  I had plenty of fabric in my stash and some Kona Snow for the background.

Intertwined is a twin sized quilt in the book, but I decided to make it ¾ size to make a medium sized throw.  My quilt finishes at about 51″ x 66″.  I quilted it with horizontal lines about 3/4″ apart using Aurifil 2021.  (That is our gardening frame and its shadow on the right side of the picture – spring and vegetable gardening will come to Michigan eventually!)

I’m a big fan of black and white too, but you picked a lovely color scheme for Intertwined! Debbie, thanks for joining in the hop!

Very nice! One of my favorite color combos, too!
