Lines by Design Quilts blog hop – the last day!

ClerestoryFullEHQ250I hope you’ve enjoyed the blog hop!  I’m so grateful to the generous bloggers who took time to participate!  Quilters truly are a wonderful and giving group.

It has been such fun to have my work shared with so many lovely people.

I know someone will ask me which quilt in the book is my favorite.  While that is a bit like picking your favorite child, I have to say that Clerestory certainly ranks pretty high on the list.  (Slats, Classic, Cure-All and Community Isolation are others that I’m especially fond of).  In many ways, Clerestory is a very “me” quilt:  lines, negative space and houses.

But in a couple of other ways, it is a “not me” kind of quilt.  The first is that the fabric choices were inspired by a fabric I fell in love with (Mezzanine by Sarah Watts for Cotton + Steel).  The other fabrics in the quilt were chosen to work with Sarah’s wonderful print.  I rarely choose my fabric that way, but I’m certainly glad I did this time!  I still love the fabric and love how it works in the quilt.  The other way this quilt is a bit unusual for me is that it has quite a few (over 20) pieces in the block.  In general, I like pretty simple blocks, but this is not one of them.  It just goes to show, that it is worth doing things a bit differently sometimes!

So, would you like to win a copy of Lines by Design Quilts?  Leave a comment and tell me whether you like simple blocks or blocks with lots of pieces or both!  I’ll pick a random winner at the end of the day on Wednesday, March 16.  A US winner will receive a hard copy of the book; a non-US winner will receive a digital copy.

If you have the book, I would appreciate it if you could leave a review on Amazon.  Thank you so much!  Good luck!

I certainly enjoyed the blog hop and Debbie, congratulations your book!! Hmmm, about piecing, I think it depends on the project, but I’m not opposed to detailed piecing.

This blog hop was so fun! You always inspire me! I love simple blocks. I love crazy blocks. Sometimes simple can be harder than crazy!!

I like simple blocks. I am looking forward to seeing the entire book. I ordered one from chapters but a second copy would make a great gift for a quilty friend

I like blocks with several pieces, but not too many or too tiny! I think several pieces to a block increases its interest as you can adjust the colors and fabrics. Would love a copy of the book!

I do a little of both. Sometimes I am in the hurry up and make it mode and sometimes I like the challenge of the complicated.

I love the look of complex blocks but am only skilled enough to do simple ones. The book looks amazing. Thanks for the chance to win 🙂

I like to alternate working with complicated and simple blocks, to give my brain a rest in between the complicated ones!

I really like simple blocks so I can see the end to a quilt. I don’t like to work on them too long and then I loose interest. thank you for the chance to own this great looking book.

I like simple pieces for quilts that I give away. More complex for quilts for myself. Loved the hop.

I guess it depends on my mood! Some days I want to do simpler blocks with a few pieces and others I’m up to the challenge of making a block with many pieces. I enjoyed the bog hop.

I guess I am a paradox : an impatient quilter who likes loads of leetle pieces!

Just a few or a bunch…either way is good with me! I usually measure my quilt pieces as “pieces in the quilt” not pieces in a block as im not drawn to the quilt that has a bunch of the same block over and over and over…but more to an overall design to the entire quilt….however, i do LOVE Clerestory! I am drawn to lines more than curves.

i like both kinds of blocks but i’m pretty sure i lean toward the ‘more pieces’ kind… probably because, in the quilty recesses of my brain, the phrase “you can get rid of more scraps if you put more pieces in…!” seems to be going non-stop 🙂

Simple is for me. Love the fabric choice on this as you get some ghost houses and some that read solid.

My preference is a simple block for a modern look. However, I do both simple and complex blocks. I love how you use bias tape to add a design to a quilt. I would have never thought to do that. This blog hop has been great and what a wonderful way for us to see the beautiful quilts in your book.

Debbie, thanks so much for the Blog Hop–what a great bunch of quilters! I like simple blocks–although I’ve discovered that they aren’t always that simple. I am totally smitten with Slats at the moment, but am intrigued by many, many more. I’d love to win a copy of your book 🙂

I like simple blocks with my all time favorite being a wonky star. But I’ve been branching out recently and am loving new things.

Complex blocks don’t scare me, but I do prefer simplicity of line. I love an overall feeling of simplicity, even if sometimes there are complex components in the block or quilt. “Simple” tends to make a more emphatic statement, I guess. Thank you so much for the chance to win your book!

I like the look of simple blocks and quilts, but when I start making the things I create are never simple or basic. I think I like the look of the way others create simple pieces and lines, but cannot do that myself.

It doesn’t matter to me whether a block is simple or has lots of pieces…..what matters most is what it looks like in the end! Of course, simple blocks makes it all easier. I really enjoy modern over tradition repeating blocks. I like picture quilts best. I enjoy your quilt designs very much! The two quilts I’ve made so far are based on your designs and I’m ready to start planning my third…..I am excited to own you’re new book (whether I win it or buy it!

I have done simple blocks and complex ones, but of course I would prefer simple ones. What’s more important is who th e quit is for or is the quilt for a special purpose. I like not doing the same thing twice. This book would certainly provide me with lots of ideas for not doing the same thing twice!

Generally I like simple blocks but for me it’s more about where inspiration strikes or if there is a design that really grabs me, I’m happy to commit to complexity & many tiny pieces for a fantastic outcome.. Thanks so much for the chance to win a copy of your book, it looks so incredibly gorgeous & full of such wonderful & unique designs – I’m sure it will be a great success!

On a good day, I am usually attracted to blocks and quilts with lots of lines. But, then, on another good day, I am attracted to the simplest of blocks and quilts. I guess that just about covers my personal taste!! Love this book and would be a very thankful winner.

Have love the blog hop and the book looks like it will be a great addition to my library. Thanks for sharing!
