Lines by Design Quilts blog hop – day 1!

CoverWelcome to the Lines by Design Quilts blog hop kick off!  Writing this book was such an enjoyable process and I’m thrilled to be able to share it with you now.

Most of my quilt design ideas begin with a shape.  I love to then take that shape and distill it down to its simplest form – a line.  From pure lines to lines that form beautiful curves to lines that create pictures, the simple beauty of the line fascinates me.  The book is divided into six chapters:  a Tools and Techniques chapter and then chapters that focus on Pure Line, Squares and Rectangles, Diamonds and Hexagons, Circles and Curves, and Pictorial quilts.  Each of the chapters (except the Tools chapter) begins with a small project and then has two or three larger ones.  The techniques start with piecing and move on to include fusible appliqué and bias appliqué too.  I just had to use all my favorite techniques!

Each blogger participating on the blog hop will be focusing on one project from the book.  I hope you enjoy the perspective of the wonderfully talented group of quilters in the line up.  There will be giveaways!

First up is Christa Watson of ChristaQuilts.  Christa is a phenomenal machine quilter, author and teacher.  I can’t wait to see what she has to say about Clerestory, one of my favorite quilts from the book!
