A finished top…

While most of this Memorial Day weekend was filled with recovering from my cold, a family get together and some vegetable garden planting, I managed to fit in a bit of sewing yesterday.

I finished putting the Loosely Curved quilt top together.  These little shapes are such fun to work with!  Though pressing the seams to make them nest was a bit of a challenge!  It is a cute little quilt – finishing at about 31″ square.

Next up is the quilting.  I’m torn between close echo quilting of each shape with matching thread and an allover free motion design.  I’m not sure what that design would be, but practicing my free motion quilting is always a good idea.  The project quilt in the book is quilted with a wood grain design and finished with a black and white print binding.  What do you think?

Did you get any sewing done this weekend?

I would use it to practice FMQ and do a pattern within each shape with matching thread. Then something else in the white.
