Get Inked!

No, I didn’t get a tatoo at QuiltCon πŸ™‚  Today is all about the new fabric line, Inked, by Lynn Krawczyk for Red Rooster Fabrics.  I first met Lynn about 5 years ago when the Brighton (MI) Modern Quilt Guild formed and we both attended.  Lynn’s beautiful screen printing on fabric captured my attention right away and now she has translated it into a fabric line for all to enjoy!

When Lynn asked if I’d like to play with some fat quarters and make a block to be made into a sampler quilt, I jumped at the chance.  Hop over to Lynn’s blog to learn more about her fabric, the blog hop and interviews with each quilter.  Each of the participants will have directions for their blocks on their blogs so you can make the sampler quilt too.

I call my block Which Way?  It is an uneven rail fence variation.  It seems I can’t get enough of simple strips of fabric lately.  You can download the PDF directions here.

Would you like to win the set of fat quarters I used for my block?  If so, leave a comment telling me if you’ve ever tried printing on fabric and I’ll draw a random winner at the end of the day on Monday, March 9.  Please leave your email address in your comment so I can reach you if you win!

The rest of the blog hop schedule is below – there are amazing blocks and giveaways at each stop!  Have fun!

March 2 – Susan Brubaker Knapp
March 3 – Teri Lucas
March 4 – Jessica Darling
March 5 – Debbie Grifka
March 6 – Lynn Carson Harris
March 7 – Jen Osborn
March 9 –Flaun Cline
March 10 – Lynn Krawczyk

Love your block! It looks wonderful in the finished quilt!!
I have printed on fabric, but quite a while ago… I'm wanting to do it again, this time with higher quality inks/paints. My earlier efforts were *fun* and turned out alright, but I want to go to the next level!
    Thank you for the inspiration!

One of my absolutely MOST favorite things to do is print my own fabric–esp. using things around the home as inspiration (just published Fabric Printing at Home and Lynn has a piece in it). Would love to combine some of Lynn's fabrics with my own to make something SWEET!

I have only ever tried fabric printing with the kids…when it didn't matter if the dye was stable/ permanent!…not sure I would've brave enought to incorporate my dyed fabric into a quilt…for fear the rest would be destroyed in the first wash!
    Thanks

I've printed a repeating pattern (10"x10") using 5 small leaf stamps that I carved. Made pillow cases from the results. Fun! Love the look of hand-printed fabric and plan to make more using different stamping objects.
Thanks for the chance for the fat quarters!
