Make It! Patchwork

The editors of Modern Patchwork have a new special issue publication just out.  Called Make It! Patchwork, it features 27 fun and fast patchwork projects.  Many of the projects are small and can be made from your stash in no time at all.

Two of my projects are included.  Twinkle is one of my all time favorite quilts – I just love a Carpenter Star pattern!  This one is a fun, fast version using a charm pack.  It finishes at 40″ square – a perfect baby size quilt.  I love the soft palette of the original quilt, but wouldn’t it look fun in some great kid prints or brighter colors too?

My Car Trash Bag pattern has to rank up there as one of the most-used things I’ve ever made.  I’ve had one version or another of this trash bag in my car for years!  It keeps all those bits of paper, wrappers, tissues, etc from spreading all over the car. What a great place to use up small pieces of your favorite fabrics!

I have to give a shout out to two other Michigan quilters included in the magazine:  Rossie Hutchinson of Fresh Modern Quilts and Lori Miller of Lori Miller Designs.  Rossie’s project is Stalactite and Stalagmite Table Runner and Place Mats featuring improv triangles.  Lori’s This and That Carry-all Tote includes some small paper pieced blocks in a roomy tote that she finished with straight line quilting.

What are you planning to make this year?

Love the carpenter star quilt! Congrats on the feature! Love the magazine! Who isn't looking for some quick projects from time to time?

I haven't any specific goals for making anything this year. Just trying to be more focused with whatever I end up doing!

    Happy New Year!
