30 Quilts for 30 Years!

Welcome to the Robert Kaufman 30 Quilts for 30 Years blog hop!  We are celebrating 30 years of Kona cotton solids with 30 days of blog posts and giveaways!

I was so honored and excited when the lovely Nichole from Robert Kaufman asked if I’d be interested in participating in the 30 Quilts for 30 Years celebration I could hardly say yes fast enough!  I LOVE working with solids and Kona is my go-to choice.

The lookbook the RK team put together is just stunning!  My quilt is River Run, an all solid version of my Sedimentary pattern (Paper pattern available here or PDF here or here).  Ever since I designed Sedimentary I’ve had this quilt in the back of my mind – like a river running through a forest or field.  There are so many beautiful Kona colors now, 303 in all, that I was like a kid in a candy store selecting the greens and blues for my quilt.  The greens are avocado, basil, bonsai, chartreuse, grass green, palm, peapod and peridot.  The blues are copen, prussian, regatta, riviera and surf.  I quilted River Run with an abstract leaf pattern in the green areas and a design inspired by reflections on water in the blue area.

Now for the giveaway!  Leave me a comment below and you’ll be entered to win a charm pack of the new Kona colors for 2014 AND the paper version of my Sedimentary quilt pattern.  Tell me something about you and color – whether it is your favorite Kona color, one you love to work with or one you’re dreaming of!  Don’t forget to include your email address – you can’t win if I can’t find you!  The giveaway is open internationally and will close at 10 am Sunday morning US EST (UTC-5).

I wish I had the space to show you all the other beautiful quilts in the celebration!  You can see them in the lookbook and follow along all the stops on the blog hop listed below.  There will be a grand finale prize too!

This past year I have started knitting as well as beginning my first quilt. The yarn stash began several months before the quilting bug bit me. I have been going through both yarn and fabric stashes and there is a a common color theme. It seems I gravitate toward darker hues of blue, gold, rose and grey. Renragjd@gmail.com

First off, your quilt is beautiful. The name is perfect for that pattern and your choice of colors. I have been quilting for seven years. I have made nine quilts all gifts to family members. It has been a fun and creative experience. This month I am actually making a rainbow trip around the world for my sister's 60th birthday, so it is the first time for me to be using Kona Solids. I had so much fun looking through all the colors at the quilt shop deciding which colors to use. I can't say I have one favorite…all of them are beautiful.
