Modern Patchwork Summer!

Modern Patchwork Summer

Modern Patchwork Summer is available for pre-order now!  This is the first ever Summer issue of Modern Patchwork and you know it is loaded with beautiful projects and I have a copy available for one of you lucky readers!

The project I designed is called Waves and it just feels like summer to me!  Isn’t this shot from the magazine lovely!  It just looks so peaceful!  I love those great colors too – the fabric is from the Sphere line by Zen Chic for Moda that came out in February.  (A side note:  I love everything that Brigitte from Zen Chic designs!  She has done 4 fabric collections so far, with a 5th due out in August, and I have made quilts from 3 of the 4 collections – I missed Barcelona somehow šŸ™ ).

Waves finishes at 62″ x 62″.  You can see in the flatter shot here that the “waves” are made up of squares in graduating sizes.  I kept the colors somewhat grouped together to represent the water, horizon and sunny sky.  I quilted it in wavy lines to continue the theme.  I think this quilt is just dying to be taken on a picnic or to the beach!

Now for the giveaway:  leave me a comment and tell me what you’re sewing this summer.

Please, if you are a no-reply blogger, leave your email address in your comment.  If I can’t reach you, you can’t win!

The giveaway will close at the end of the day on Saturday, July 12.  Good luck!

I added this quilt to my favorites when I saw it. I like its simple construction and the color scheme appeals to me greatly. My sister in law who grew up in the Ann Arbor/ Chelsea area picked it out of my flikr favorites for a quilt for their brand new baby. I didn't have the magazine to use your exact pattern, but worked something similar. Thanks so much for the beautiful inspiration. https://www.flickr.com/photos/66135235@N05/15086208083/

Love this quilt. Had it in my flickr favorites and my sis-in-law just decided that she'd like a baby quilt like it, so I'm excited to be starting a new project inspired by this quilt. Thanks for the inspiration.

Love your quilt. A landscape made of squares, colors and quilting. So simple and clever! This summer I am sewing a bunch of Scout Tees (Grainline Studios). Each one a bit different. The one I'm sewing now is made from cotton/rayon fabric that came from a dress I bought at SalVal. It's purple with woven, fancy stripes of shiny purple. (I need new shirts!)

Awesome pattern! I've always been attracted to waves that are implied and not really curved. Love it!

Thanks for the giveaway. I'm finally making a summer quilt for our bed–with my Kaffe Fassett fabrics and white. I'm using a 100% silk batting and only have a couple more passes to go to finish quilting it!

I just finished the machine quilting on my MQG Michael Miller challenge. I just have to hand sew the binding down and I will post at the MQG. I used your daisy bias tutorial from Sew Solid Sunday #4. Thanks for such a great tutorial.

Great design Debbie. The fabric really works well with the wavy design. I have a fat eighth pack of Sphere that I'm still waiting to use in a design I just haven't gotten to. I have pillows in the same issue so no need to enter me in the draw.
