24 Jul Fun-Size Quilts!
I love making big quilts – quilts for the beds in our home and quilts to snuggle under on the couch when it is cold out. I’m totally on board with the fact that quilting is a long term accomplishment. BUT, sometimes, you just want a quick finish – a fun size quilt to play with; a little project that gets done. Almost instant gratification!
Well, 17 designers have given you plenty of little quilts to choose from. Fun-Size Quilts from Martingale includes 19 projects that all finish about the size of a fat quarter (18″ x 22″). There really is something for everyone in this book from cute little four-patches and pinwheels to adorable animals and flowers to abstract designs.
The quilt I designed is called To-Do List and includes both appliqué and piecing. It was so much fun to design this sweet little quilt. I’m glad it is home now so I can hang it up in my sewing room to remind me that sometimes you just have to do what you have to do!
Two of my favorite quilts in the book are on the cover – Kimberly Jolly’s Sunshine pinwheel quilt and Jeni Baker’s adorable little foxes called Fox in a Box! Kimberly’s choice to limit the color scheme and change the color of one block is so effective. Jeni’s little foxes have me running for my scraps to choose the perfect fabrics for those adorable faces!
Another of the quilts that has me itching to sew is Thomas Knauer’s Perhaps – it is in Morse Code – I love quilts that have a bit of a puzzle to them 🙂 I guess some of us never get over that childhood feeling of excitement when solving a puzzle feels like unlocking a secret that only we know.
Emily Herrick’s Skyline looks like another great project for using small pieces of my favorite fabrics and Jackie White’s whimsical My Little Garden is so sweet I wish I had a little girl’s room to decorate. I could go on and on….

If you’ve read this far, I hope you are as excited about this book as I am! If so – good news! Martingale is giving away a free eBook version of Fun-Size Quilts! To enter the giveaway, tell me if there is something, besides sewing, that never goes on your To Do List because you know you will always do it! Giveaway closes at the end of the day Wed, July 30. Good luck!

Stitching, in one form or another…it's part of my DNA so I never have to put it on a list!
DebbyPosted at 16:58h, 30 July
Reading. I read every night before bed. A REAL book, not on the computer. I still like the feel and smell of a real book.

Playing with the kids is not on my to do list. I am enjoying the summer months with my children and playing board games and enjoying the nice weather.
KarenPosted at 02:02h, 29 July
Does work count for that? I am also pretty good at spending quality time with my man. I like your to-do list quilt.

Hmmm…I rarely make a to do list. I do things as they need to be done at home….unless I'm more in the mood for quilting!
Cindy DahlgrenPosted at 06:06h, 26 July
For some reason, I never forget to buy Pepsi and eat. Maybe I should quilt more and eat less? Love this book, and your mini is so cool.

Vacuuming! I run the vacuum every morning to pick up the animal fur (I have 3 cats and 2 dogs), the sand (we live near the ocean and sand is a constant thing around here) and of course the threads and bits of fabric that get carried about by my shoes and my kitties! I LOVE your mini quilt, you are so creative!!

Breathing, sleeping, eating, checking email, feeding the cat, to name a few that do not ever get put on a to do list.
HavplentyPosted at 14:50h, 25 July
Love your mini. My never to do List items would be checking my email, feeding my feline buddies, texting someone that day.
Pat S.Posted at 14:37h, 25 July
Housecleaning is never on my to-do list. The visual reminder is enough for me…lol Thanks sew much for this chance to win, 😀

Eating is never on my list 😉
terrieanniePosted at 13:37h, 25 July
Hmmm, make my bed I guess. I always make it because my dog likes to sleep on it when I'm gone, so there's a special blanket for her on top of the bedding.
Darla in PAPosted at 13:32h, 25 July
Things that never go on the to-do list would be laundry and cooking. Anything else would be completely forgotten. Thanks for the give away!

The first thing that comes to mind that never goes on a to do list (and most things do, or I forget to do them) is: eat some chocolate. Can NEVER forget that!

Cooking dinner never makes it onto my 'To Do' list because my family would starve if there wasn't something on the table besides my patchwork dinner mats.
Kate in IowaPosted at 05:48h, 25 July
Laundry never makes my to-do list because my sewing "room" is in our unfinished basement next to the washer and dryer. While the washer and dryer are doing their thing, I'm doing mine – sewing and dreaming up new projects!

I don't have to put sewing on my to do list as I do it when ever I can. The only time I need to put daily things on my list of to dos is when I am leaving the house for more than a day so I know things will get done. Crafting is on my every day list in my head.
