And… Turnstile

Last but not least, the final new pattern this Fall, Turnstile.  I met the nice people from Windham Fabrics at Quilt Market last Spring in Portland and they contacted me this summer asking if I’d like to design a pattern using the new Marcia Derse lines.  Absolutely I would!  Marcia has two lines due out in December.  Mosaic is a collection of Marcia’s hand dyed designs.  Palette is a collection of near solids with just the right amount of color variation.  The Turnstile cover quilt uses Mosaic for the blocks and the Chartreuse color of Palette for the background.  If you look closely at the quilt you can see more detail of the Mosaic designs – the upper right corner of the quilt has some of my favorite prints with a block design, there are also some hand drawn stripes and squiggles – fantastic!  I love the way the spiral quilting turned out too.

I’m pretty excited to say that not only will Fat Quarter Shop be selling this pattern, but they are kitting the quilt too!  It isn’t in stock yet, but you can sign up to find out when it will be and I’ll let you know as soon as I find out too.

I always try to make my patterns in a second fabric – often one a print version and one a solid version.  This time I went for a completely different print look and used Winter’s Lane by Kate and Birdie for Moda.  The colors and prints are so elegant, I just couldn’t resist!

A little more about the actual quilt:  Turnstile uses 5″ squares so is charm pack and scrap friendly.  A partial seam method is used to make the charms twirl around the centers, but I explain it fully with lots of diagrams.  It really isn’t nearly as hard as it sounds, I promise!  Turnstile includes 5 sizes from baby to queen/king.

You can get paper copies of the Turnstile pattern in my Etsy shop and PDFs in my EtsyCraftsy and PatternSpot shops.  Wholesale purchasers can contact me directly at ehq at sbcglobal dot net or order from CheckerBrewerPetersen-Arne or United Notions.

I really like this little quilt Debbie. Love the spiral quilting you did on the first one too.
