Not hot off the press, but…

You know that old expression that breaking news is “hot off the press”?  Well, I forgot to share that Think Positive will be part of the American Quilter’s Society Modern Quilt Challenge exhibit in Des Moines, IA next month!

When I first heard about the challenge I had some great plans to make a quilt just for this show.  Well, you know how life goes – I didn’t get to it.  As the deadline neared, at first I thought I’d just have to pass, but then Think Positive stared me in the face and I decided to go ahead and enter it instead.

And, the more I thought about it, the better I felt about it too.  Think Positive is a very “me” quilt 🙂  The simple shapes, neutrals and solids are some of my favorite things.

Can I say something about quilt shows/competitions here?  I know a lot of people have mixed feelings about the quilt show judging process and the whole idea of the competition part of the show and I do too.  But I really like to share my work with others and a quilt show is a great way to do that.  If the judges don’t like it, I’m okay with that (although, hopefully, they won’t have TOO many negative comments :)).  If the judges do like it and it happens to win a prize, well, honestly, I’ll feel pretty good!  But, I’ll also know that it doesn’t really mean that my quilt is that much better than many of the other amazing quilts that were in the show, just that those judges, at that show, liked mine a bit more.

So, all that aside, I’m really happy that people who attend the show will get to see my quilt hanging with 112 other modern quilts – I sure wish I could go and see them too!  If you’re planning to attend the show, stop and say “hi” to Think Positive!

Congratulations! I share your feelings about shows and judging. One show I entered several years back, they called me as there was confusion on which category my quilt should be placed in, (do you find some show's entry forms to be are a little confounding?) Anyway, I said I really don't care what category you put it in I just want it seen!
