31 Jul WIP Wednesday is right!
I often have more than one project going at once, but, usually, I am focusing on one at a time. The others are there waiting their turns for me to get back to them. The past week or two, it seems like I’ve been trying to focus on several projects at once. That makes me a little crazy! But, I’m starting to finish them off – to clear the decks for the next round 🙂
The first was the new version of my Think Positive quilt in grey and white – posted about here and now finished.
The second is a new large version of Third Street that I’m in the process of quilting. It is coming along, but I needed a bit of a break from it 🙂
The third is a fast “log cabin” project I just had to start last week. I’ve finished the top. This was totally unplanned. I was drinking my tea last Wednesday morning, flipping through some quilt books that I hadn’t looked at in a while when Cherri House’s City Center (from City Quilts – LOVE that book) grabbed my attention. Such a simple block, on point, in fantastic colors. I just couldn’t resist the “simple, fast, make it now” thoughts that stuck in my head. Two other factors encouraged me as well. The size of my stash of unused fabrics has been bothering me, sigh. I bought a lot of fabrics that just don’t suit my style any more, but I want to use them. And, as usual, I’m delinquent in making charity quilts for one of the guilds I belong to. So, a fast, stash quilt was born. I didn’t end up using anything from City Center except the basic block idea. I resized it a bit to make it work for the size requirements for our charity quilts. And, no surprise, even cutting 45 3½” strips from your stash doesn’t make a dent! Hopefully, a child in need will be cheered a little by this fun, bright quilt.
The fourth is a quilt I’ve been working on for a while featuring Matilda by Alice Kennedy for Timeless Treasures. It isn’t an urgent project, but it has been waiting too long for some attention, poor thing.
Linking up to Lee’s WIP Wednesday. So how are your WIPs coming?
