Quilting Arts TV Project #2

Fabric by Kaffe Fassett in the back and Marmalade by
Bonnie and Camille in the front

The new season of Quilting Arts TV starts this month – series 1200.  Check here to see how to get it in your area.  I don’t know which episodes my projects will be on, but I do know there are lots of great quilters on this season and you really can’t go wrong with any episode 🙂

The project I’m sharing with you today is fast, fun and useful!  You just can’t have too many coasters.  These are such fun to stitch up with some of your favorite fabric and a few scraps.  There is a nice little twist to the way the “tops” of these coasters are made – they are sewn as one piece and then cut apart as the last step!  Sewing with lots of  little pieces is not one of my favorite things, so I figured out how to make the tops all at the same time.

You have to love a project that only requires a bit of fabric (maybe scraps even), a bit of time and eats up some of that leftover batting we all have hanging around too.  Make them by the dozen and you’ll always have a housewarming, hostess or teacher gift ready to go!  (A huge bonus for me as I tend not to think of these things until the last minute).

Have you made coasters before?

PS  If you’ve popped over from Pink Chalk Fabrics Where I Sew, welcome!
