New and improved…

Traffic Pattern is one of my favorite quilts.  Ever since I designed and made the first quilt in grey and yellow a few years ago, I’ve wanted to make a baby quilt with a rainbow of birds.  Well, I did it!  Isn’t it adorable?

Even better, I revised the pattern to include four sizes and made it downloadable!  Now, you can make Traffic Pattern in the original full/queen as well as twin, throw and baby sizes.  What could me more fun than that?  Only the fabric choices – go with a sophisticated color scheme like the original grey and yellow or the cheerful rainbow idea or, even better, one of your own.  Another idea I’d like to try is a scrappy background – not too much variety in color or value, but just enough to add some more interest and still showcase the birds.

Those skinny little “borders” are such fun too.  Don’t worry, they aren’t pieced – they are flanges that sit on top of the quilt and add great color and dimension.  They’re easy to do and, of course, the pattern tells you how.

I quilted both quilts with diagonal straight lines following the flight path of the birds.  I think some breezy, flowing quilting would look fantastic too (I’m still working on those fmq skills :)).

Traffic Pattern is available in paper or PDF versions in my Etsy shop and the PDF version is available on Craftsy too. Shop owners can order patterns directly through me (see tab above) or through Checker or Brewer distributors.

Now, if only the weather here in Michigan would be as sunny and cheerful as that baby quilt!
