Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day!

Welcome to Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day!  I missed last spring’s giveaway so I’m glad to be participating this time around.

If you’re new here, I’m Debbie and I design and make quilts.  My style can be described as graphic, modern and minimalist.  I sell my patterns in my Etsy, Craftsy and PatternSpot shops – check them out in the sidebar. I also have some free projects if you look at the tab at the top of this page.  I’ve just added six new holiday themed projects that I designed as part of the Holiday Craft Bash so go check them out!  But first:

I’m giving away this little mini quilt called Christmas Tree Farm.  This is one of the projects for the Holiday Craft Bash, so if you want to make your own you can.  The fabric is from Kate Spain’s Joy line.  This little quilt is about 12″ x 18″ and has triangles sewn in the corners on the back so all you’ll need to do to hang it is add a dowel rod or something similar.  It is raw-edge applique – a technique that is not typical for me, but I wanted to give it a try.

So, to enter, tell me what is the decorating centerpiece of your holiday – is it a live tree, an heirloom handed down in your family, something funky and fun you and your sweetie bought, your mantel that you decorate differently every year?  Leave another comment as a second entry if you follow me (blog, FB, Twitter, Pinterest…).

My giveaway is open to international entries.  I will draw a random winner at the end of the day on Dec 7 (I am in the US Eastern time zone).  Please, please make sure you leave me a way to contact you if you are the winner!  Every time I do a giveaway I get many entries from “no-reply-blogger”s that I have no way to reach.

I’m no computer expert but I think this works:  If you want to know if you are a no-reply-blogger, click on the “Design” button on the top right corner of your blog, then, also in the top right corner there will be a drop down menu where you can choose “Blogger Profile”.  Look on the left column.  There should be a spot that says “e-mail”.  If you don’t have an email address connected to your blog, I can’t find you.

If this sounds too complicated, just make sure you put your email address in your comment.  If you want to avoid spam you can spell out parts of it like “mary at aol dot com”.

Good luck!

Our Christmas tree is the "main attraction" at our house….right now it's decorated to match our living room. Gold and silver. But, I'm sure as our 2 year old gets older, we'll have to make it a little more fun, and a little less fancy! Thanks!

Our centerpiece is a tree! This will be our second year in our house, so our second year with a live tree (our apartments before that didn't allow them-fire hazard, apparently).
It's so much fun putting up ornaments, and this year our son is actually old enough to help some!I think we are going to get ours tonight!!

I would say the tree, but I think this year it was about letting my daughter display *her* nativity set for the first time. (As a transplanted Michigander, when we were in MI last year for the holidays I insisted on a trip to Bronner's for her to pick out her own set.)

I really love Christmas trees. I've always had a real tree and refused to buy a fake on until we moved to Arizona. It is just too dry to have a real tree up here for more than 3 days before it is sooo dry. So, I have a fake one and I burn pine scented candles. haha! I still love my Christmas tree.

I am obsessed with the mini-quilts and this one would look wonderful hanging on my wall each Christmas season. The colors and pattern are beautiful! My centerpiece each Christmas is my Christmas tree which is filled with ornaments that all have a story. Ornaments made by my children when they were little, Baby's first Xmas ornaments for both, even an ornament my mom passed down to me from when I was a baby. We relive the stories every year. claird28@comcast.net

My tree is a traditional one (as opposed to themed) and it has ornaments on it from when my late mother was a child. (She was born in 1937.) I started buying ornaments when I was a junior in high school and now I'm a grandmother, so it's fun to share the stories behind different ornaments with my three grandsons.

We have 3 trees at our house each year. One is a tiny Advent tree that we place an ornament on for each of the 24 days before Christmas and a Creche ornament that is place on Christmas morning. We have a tree in our living room that we cut down at a tree farm. That tree is decorated with the German and Polish glass ornaments that we have collected over our 40 years of marriage. Our third tree is an artificial tree in our family room that is decorated with items that our children made while they were growing up (they are 27 and 24 now). It also has ornaments that were bought by their now deceased grandparents that reflect their interests when they were children. There are lots of Star Trek, Star Wars, trains, ballerinas, and cat ornaments to fill it up.

Your mini quilt is just lovely – thank you for the chance to win it! The centerpiece is our tree and its baubles. For the first few years we were together we had some cheap and cheerful plastic baubles to cover our tree. As time has passed we started a tradition where we would buy special glass, decorated baubles to replace the plastic ones eacy year, one each. 14 years later there are now four of us buying baubles each year – this year our littlest boy was able to choose his own! The plastic ones are nearly all gone and next year we may have to buy a bigger tree!

Our centerpiece is a Dept. 56 mercury glass ornament. It is a red truck with a Christmas tree in the back..I bought it for Hubby when he gave his own vintage Chevy truck to a couple who really needed a vehicle. It also reminds my son of all the Christmases we picked up the tree in that truck!

What a sweet little quilt! πŸ™‚

My partner and I haven't started any Christmas decorating traditions yet, however we've just had our first child so we're going to be starting some soon!

My parent's have two German ornaments that they were given from my mother's penfriend, that they bring out every year and set up on the coffee table in their lounge. A "smoking" woodcutter (you light an incense cone inside him, and it looks like he's smoking a pipe), and a merry-go-round that is driven by the heat of four little candles that are lit around it.

Ornaments are essential to my Christmas decorating! Not only do I have ornaments that match my tree decor (silver, green, purple), but I also have ornaments that I have collected through the years from family and friends! It is always a joy to think of those people as I decorate my tree!

Our decorating centerpiece is actually outside on the lawn – a GIANT, and I mean 12' tall, inflatable waving Santa. He's so big we had a car run into the median one year as they were driving by staring at Santa instead of the road. Also, another year, Google Earth took our satellite picture and Santa can be seen from space. This giant Santa is so special to my children and my husband, I had to sew one of his seams back together last year. seelifemarvels at gmail dot com

I participated in several of the cake+pie/freshly blended holiday ornament swaps, so I do love the ornaments I got from that– and put it on a silver tree. I suppose our centrepoint would be our mantel- although I'm not sure if we have a distinct focal point. Our large artificial tree is in the front room of the house, so it's visible from the road, and of course we have electric candles in the windows. Someday I'd love to put a small tree on the porch- but the DH doesn't agree =( He also doesn't like my idea of getting one single lit holiday lawn flamingo to put by the mailbox. I think it would be hilarious! Sigh. It's all about compromise!

The center of our holiday decorating is the living room mantel. We always have a precious Nativity scene, but I try to add new elements to the rest of it each year.

Now that my children are grown & gone, this is a decorating ritual from the past. I use to make hundreds of cut out paper snow flakes and hang them on clear fish line from pins in the ceiling of all the rooms. When the fan would come on, they would all move like real a real snow storm. My boys loved it!

This is so cute! The centerpiece of our decorations is always a New Mexico Christmas tree (pinon pine). I live in Oklahoma now, but always travel to New Mexico at Thanksgiving so we can go up in the mountains with my family and chop down a tree to bring home.

We just got a live tree yesterday and the house smells gorgeous. It will be decorated as soon as my husband finds the lights. It's the second year in a row that they have gone missing… πŸ˜‰

We get 2 trees each year–one is the family tree with colored lights, school-made ornaments, old family ornaments and lots of tinsel. The other is only white lights with only red, white, or gingerbread/cookie/candy related ornaments. It's in my kitchen/dining room. Love them both!

Thanks for the opportunity on a great draw. Love the quilt. I made a x-stitch Welcome to our home Xmas picture the first year we were married and it is still the go-to piece that we pull out each year to start our decorating.

We have a garland in the kitchen window which carries all the self-made little pieces which we have collected over the years. And of course, we have an "advents kranz" which is decorated with four candles and red and golden christmas balls. It has the form of a bar and is not round as it normally is in Germany.

Oh that looks cute. The center of my Christmas is our Christmas stuff. Seconded by the manger with itty bitty Jesus.

The central piece is definetely the tree in the garden which we light up every year and can see directly through the window from the living room! Our pets have proved to be xmas tree ornament destroyers, so we don't have a tree inside.

We love our tree filled with ornaments we've made or collected since our children were young. This is so that when they grow up, they will have their own ornaments to start with.

Every year we go out and pick out our Christmas tree, it's such a fun tradition and it's so exciting to pick the "perfect" one. We also have a little people nativity that we put out each year for our daughter! Thanks for the giveaway, the quilt is gorgeous!
